There has been a concerning trend of prospective pet-owners seeking “dilute” colored Brussels Griffons. There are individuals here and abroad charging extraordinary sums of money for “exotic” (dilute) puppies using descriptive coat color names such as: Cafe au lait, Caramel, Lilac, blue-eyed Creams, red-eyed creams, and the ever-popular blue merle. Featured below are images depicting these colors as well as other colors of brindle, blue and tan, chocolate and tan and “Rum Toddy.” Dilute colors are statistically linked to genetic health issues such as blindness, deafness, and alopecia to name just a few concerning heredity risks. Purposefully breeding these “flavors” of the month is only setting future fur-ever homes up for heartbreak.
